Today was the last day of the workshops. So many mixed feelings. Basically this was our "low" in our check in - it suddenly feels like the time went so fast! That said, it is always important to remember that folks come in and out of our lives and to appreciate the time that was had. For instance, as the artist mentors, we feel we made a real connection with cool humans and feel so lucky to have spent time and got to know everyone. ;) One never knows what the universe has in

well we did it. we manifested food and a nice afternoon. a volunteer appreciation party was being held that we were all invited to.... so we all had drinks and snacks and HAMBURGERS and made flags. fun. also, learned more about video games, art portfolios, pets and partners! ;)

Today we were part of the Cambie Kickback in the Cambie Comunity Centre gym and so we were in good company with origami, beading, basketball, connect four, bowling and floor hockey relay! We met some new friends and managed to create more flags for PRIDE! We got to check in at the end of the workshop so it was cool to still find out how everyone is doing! Today was such a great afternoon! It was nice to see everyone - sometimes 2 weeks feels like a long time - so it was nice to hang out and catch up and LAUGH! Today we first talked about cake or pie. Let's face it THIS was a big discussion. Black Forest, Tuxedo cake vs Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Pie??!! Also is cheese cake a pie or cake? We also talked about gaming and how it is not interesting to play games created by people who have bad behavior - it wrecks the vibe. Nice to see so many familiar faces! It was a full house and a chill creative afternoon. Great to find out how spring break went... some hanging around with friends, some volunteering, LOTS of homework, a little sorrow to come back to school... The mentors learned about Danganronpa and then everyone talked about what our 'ultimate talents' would be! Then we all worked on creative exploits: drawing, painting, flag making, fish repair and tail creation!!

Today was all about catching up after a whole month away. AND pizza! ;) We learned that one of the young artists got a Scholarship!!!! MASSIVE congrats! Today we learned to make a linocut. A linocut is a relief printing technique where a design is carved into a sheet of linoleum. We used regular lino and easy green lino to carve into. The raised, uncarved areas are then inked and pressed onto paper or fabric to create a print. Folks made quick work and designs were not only carved but also printed onto paper! Tonight was our last 2025 workshop and we got into it! More screen printing, introducing it to 2 more youth and getting some designs percolating! Also experimenting with artist made screen designs and playing with colour from underpainting and adding text with markers and embroidery! Wednesdays are ALWAYS the highlight of the week! 2 weeks feels like a long time in between seeing everyone, so we were so happy to be together at the Cambie Community Centre again.
